![]() ![]() It is easy to mistake her for vain or shallow, something Brendan does immediately.īrendan “bless this man” Taggert is a man stuck in his ways, loathes deviation and change, and has been chugging along through life on autopilot for the last 7 years since losing his wife while he was out at sea captaining the boat he makes his living on. ![]() Bailey captures this snap shot of a woman who has had to live on the surface, floating along her life because she hasn’t been given any other skills, nor has her environment rewarded her for passions or quirks outside of what earns her the most interactions on social media. But apart from the luxury brand name dropping, she has a depth to her that even she doesn’t understand. Piper is, admittedly, high maintenance and that’s also not everyone’s cup of tea. ![]() Piper is heavily inspired by Alexis from Schitt’s Creek, and if you didn’t have that context, the first few chapters would likely have been incredibly painful to get through. I was a little surprised to hear some folks didn’t enjoy this novel, and I think it may have been due to skipping the Author’s Note in the beginning of the book. ![]()
